Artestar’s special partnership with Uniqlo over the past 20 years has catapulted the legacies of Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat into a new stratosphere. Their cemented status in street art and street style has much to do with the exceptional collections that have yielded from this unique partnership. From Uniqlo’s 10th Anniversary of its UT graphic T-shirt project to the launch of SPRZ NY in 2014 to the upcoming Art Essentials collections, Keith Haring’s and Jean-Michel Basquiat’s artworks have a deep history and a bright future at Uniqlo.

Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kenny Scharf pioneered the pop culture of New York City in the 1980s. The artists helped establish New York as the center of pop culture in the 80s and made the city more vibrant. Iconic works by Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Kenny Scharf arrived to Uniqlos’ UT collection in adult and kid sizes, available online and in all stores worldwide.

 

Keith Haring / Tokyo

Keith Haring traveled to Japan several times from 1983 to 1988. During his travels, he initiated several projects including solo exhibitions, public art projects, and Pop Shop Tokyo. Haring also produced a number of unique works that combine his own style with Japanese culture and influences. This UT collection showcases the artist's memorable artworks created in Japan.

 

Jean-Michel Basquiat / WB

1980s New York art scene wunderkind Jean-Michel Basquiat developed a distinctive iconography influenced by art history, music, and pop culture. This unique UT collaboration explores the artist's connection to DC's beloved Super Heroes and Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes characters that inspired Basquiat as a child, later to be featured in some of his signature artworks.

From Party of Life to events at the Paradise Garage, this collection celebrates the invitations that iconic artist, Keith Haring, made for parties and events in NYC during the 1980s.
