Alake Shilling
Based in Los Angeles, Alake Shilling is a painter and sculptor of boldly whimsical creatures, bearing carefully coded emotions and driving rich narratives about companionship, risk, and reward. Her work is held in the permanent collection of the Hammer Museum, where it was showcased in the 2025 Made in L.A. Biennial and 2019 exhibition Dirty Protest. In 2024 she held a solo exhibition at Palm Springs Art Museum, California and in 2023 carried out a mural commission for the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.
