Keith Haring's activism was at the core of his artistry, which is why in 1986, Haring was personally invited to paint a mural on the Berlin Wall by Rainer Hildebrandt, a German anti-communist resistance fighter and founder of the Checkpoint Charlie Museum.

Summer 2021

Highsnobiety’s BERLIN, BERLIN celebration is back for a second edition, coinciding with Berlin Fashion Week. Once again, the celebration of Berlin pays homage to the movers, shakers, and all others that make the German capital tick. For the occasion, Highsnobiety partnered with a curated selection of collaborators to bring commemorative and co-branded styles like this Keith Haring capsule collection. The products are adorned with custom iconography, including graphics from the Berlin Wall — used for the first time ever.

“The main objective here is that it is not an insignificant act that goes unnoticed,” Keith Haring explained to The New York Times after finishing the work. “The entire world should know that it happened, reinforcing its political significance.”
